Following the Tracks of the Explorers

In this spirit of adventure, "Palliser's Challenge" retraces the route of his first passage through the Rockies. Using only those means of transport available in the 1850's (horse, foot and canoe), we cover over 250 km of wilderness, from the foothills in the East to the source of the mighty Columbia River beyond the Rockies. You will experience all the challenges, dangers, beauty and thrills that the first explorers encountered.

Palliser's Challenge combines three great outdoor sports, with a journey traversing the breadth and beauty of the Rockies and a lesson in a fascinating chapter of Canadian history. While training in the specific skills will be given, all participants in Palliser's Challenge must be healthy and possess a high level of personal fitness.
